"How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?"
As the question suggest, taking into account technologies is something I should focus on from the beginning. As I'm studying film production, I've realized that skills is above simply knowing what buttons to push. It needs a thorough comprehension of the basic concepts and how every aspect works together to provide an engaging visual narrative. This ideas was demonstrated in the video by Matti Haapoja...
His hands-on approach, which showed how different settings affected the final product, was very engaging and has had an impact on my current process of learning.
While I don't own or have our camera which we plan on using on out film, I'm using this time to establish a solid foundation of knowledge so I can be prepared and ready when I do. Even though I don't currently have the camera, Haapoja's focus on understanding our camera was really important. I'm paying attention to some key areas he mentioned I believe are worth focusing on:
- Exposure Triangle: I'm researching how shutter speed, ISO, and aperture work. I'm constantly testing myself on how each component influences exposure and the overall feeling and look of an image, rather than merely learning definitions by heart. I'm imagining various situations and thinking about how I may modify these rules in order to get specific results.
- Understanding Focus: Haapoja's explanation of automatic and manual focus has been very helpful. I'm working on mental tasks where I picture different shooting scenarios and think about how I would manage focus to keep things clear and draw the viewer's attention.
- Camera Research: I'm focused in research even when I don't have the camera yet. I'm paying attention to features, image profiles, frame rates, and other details that Haapoja highlights in his video.
- Studying Lenses: I'm exploring the field of lenses in alongside the camera body. I'm studying focal lengths, how they affect depth of field and perspective, and how focus and zoom lenses differ from one another. I'm thinking about how different points of view might improve narrative and produce unique looks.
- Audio: I understand that this part is mainly our Editor's job, but having a understanding of our audio is also I should learn. Sound quality is necessary for stories that are captivating. I'm learning about the advantages and disadvantages of various microphone choices as well as the best techniques for obtaining clear, engaging audio.
- Lighting: Lighting has the capacity to change an environment and create specific emotions. I'm starting to understand the basics, such as three-point lighting and other key methods, because lighting is important to note on our film as it plays with the viewers emotions. I'm studying how different lighting sets may generate atmosphere and drama.
